The Indiana Morgan Horse Club is more than just showing Morgans at open, regional and national horse shows, although that's a lot of fun! Club members also join together in area groups to expose the public to the Morganís winning way by putting on clinics, using Morgan Horses in demonstrations and farm open houses, riding in parades, and participating in other events to promote the breed.
The IMHC and the Ethan Allen Youth Group participate at the annual Hoosier Horse Fair each April by showing outstanding Indiana stallions on stallion row and showing the Morganís versatility during the breed demonstrations.
The Indiana Morgan Horse Club can benefit you and your family:
1) We offer you an opportunity to meet and interact with other Morgan Horse owners to learn about and promote our breed.
2) The Ethan Allen Youth Group benefits your children by developing leadership, citizenship and sportsmanship skills.
3) The IMHC helps promote the Morgan Breed in Indiana and throughout the country thereby increasing the market for your Morgans.
4) Programs at the meetings give you the opportunity to hear from outstanding individuals who are active in the Morgan Horse world.
The IMHC strives to meet its goals through its affiliation with the American Morgan Horse Association. Since most Morgan horse owners in Indiana have fewer than five horses, the IMHC is also an excellent way to meet other Morgan Horse owners in your area of the state and share experiences.
Newsletter and Directory
The Indiana Morgan Horse News is the official publication of the club. The newsletter keeps you abreast of happenings within the Indiana Morgan Horse Club. Its carries news about club members, Morgan youth activities, Morgan Horse information on breeding, horse care, nutrition, trainers, shows, and the nominations and standings of the Indiana Morgan Horse Club Intra-Club competitions.
As a service to its members, the club publishes a membership directory each year. The directory lists all families, phone numbers, addresses, e-mail and web page address, and the horses they own.
Both the Newsletter and directory are supported by advertising solicited by the membership.
Ethan Allen Youth
The goal of the Ethan Allen Youth Group is to instill in young people pride in, enjoyment of, and knowledge about the Morgan Horse. By doing so, the club hopes they will become dedicated to preserving, improving and promoting the breed.
The Youth Group provides educational experiences through clinics in driving, first aid, grooming, judging, and conformational-related problems of horses.
Youth members also compete on judging teams, on Horse Bowl Competitions, and work on AMHA Horsemanship levels, in addition to competing in medal, open and equitation classes at horse shows. Social events are also a part of the Youth Groupís activities.
As part of their promotional effort, the Youth Group participates in the Hoosier Horse Fair and the Youth Club of the Year competition at the AMHA Grand National and Championship Horse Show in OKl
Since a large number of members show in open competition, in addition to showing in American Horse Show and Indiana Saddle Horse Association shows, the IMHC sponsors an Intra-Club Competition. Beautiful awards are presented for 16 divisions ranging from In Hand and Park Saddle, to Contesting. Members also compete for lovely perpetual trophies for High Point Junior Exhibitor and High Point Amateur, just to name two. One of the most prestigious trophies is the High Point Horse. This is awarded to the horse who accumulates the most points competing across all divisions except equitation. Participating in the Intra-Club Competition also helps you meet other members and enjoy friendly competition.
Awards are not limited to those who show. Perpetual trophies are also awarded to outstanding adult club members for sportsmanship and new member recruiting. Winners are announced at the annual meeting and awards banquet in the Fall.
