July 14, 1922 - March 10, 2008

Harriett Amanda Mantooth Ulery, 85 of Taylor Rd, Columbus, IN, formerly of Anderson, IN died at 11:35 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2008, at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus, IN.

Mrs. Ulery was a member of the Indiana Board of Realtors, The Indiana Morgan Horse Club and The American Morgan Horse Association.   Early in her career, she worked as a Youth Agent for the Hamilton County Extension Office and was a founding member of the Madison County Home Economic Club.  Mrs. Ulery was also a founding member of the Indiana Morgan Horse Club, as well as the Madison County 4-H Mane & Tail Horse & Pony Club.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Mrs. Ulery will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Reardon Auditorium on the Anderson University Campus.

Internment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, IN. 

Memorials can be made to the Indiana Morgan Horse Club, Ralph and Harriett Ulery Youth Development and Achievement programs.  Contributions can be mailed to Danielle Kiefer 16779 Lincoln Hwy, Plymouth, IN  46563.  Alternatively, memorials can be given to Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility 2626 E. 17th Street,  Columbus, IN 46201.

Mrs. Ulery was born in Morgan County, IN on July 14, 1922, the daughter of Stephen and Minnie Ellen Pike Mantooth. She married Frederick Ralph Ulery in Madison County, IN on October 11, 1945.

Mrs. Ulery is survived by two sons; Frederick Ulery II of Anderson, IN and Brad (Lacretia) Ulery of Columbus, IN,  a daughter-in-law; Theresa of Phoenix, AZ, six grandchildren; Frederick Ulery III of Indianapolis, IN, Kelli Allison (Nate) Stout of Pendleton, IN, Stephen (Crystal) Ulery of Frankton, IN, Amanda Ulery of Lafayette, IN, and Miranda and Matthew Ulery both of Columbus, IN, two great grandchildren; Lorellye James and Hunter Cole Ulery both of Frankton, IN., and a niece; Madonna (Victor) Kearns of San Antonio, TX.

Mrs. Ulery was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son; Stephen, two sisters; Minnie Ellen Benifield and Maxine Kemper, a great grandson; Zachary Auker, and two nephews; Mark and Eric Kemper.

From I-69: Follow I-69 south to Exit 34 (State Road 32). Turn right on SR 32 (west). Follow SR 32 approximately three miles to SR 9 (Scatterfield Road). Continue across Scatterfield Road and proceed on University Boulevard to Nursery Road and turn left. Turn right on 5th Street. Reardon Auditorium is the last building on the left, across from Park Place Church of God.

From SR 9: Follow SR 9 south to Anderson; stay left; do not take the business route. Follow SR 9 (Scatterfield Road) to University Boulevard. Turn right. Turn left on Nursery Road, and then right on 5th Street. Reardon Auditorium is the last building on the left, across from Park Place Church of God.

Coming from South

Follow I-65 North to 465 East to I-69 North. Follow I-69 to Exit 26, State Road 9 (Scatterfield Road). Turn left (north) on Scatterfield Road and go approximately five miles to University Boulevard. Turn left. Turn left again on Nursery Road, and then right on 5th Street. Reardon Auditorium is the last building on the left, across from Park Place Church of God.

Coming from East

From I-74: Follow I-74 to Exit 113, Shelbyville. Turn right on State Road 9, north to I-69. Turn right on I-69 (north), to Exit 26 and turn left (north) on State Road 9 (Scatterfield Road). Turn left (north), go approximately five miles to University Boulevard. Turn left. Turn left again on Nursery Road, and then right on 5th Street. Reardon Auditorium is the last building on the left, across from Park Place Church of God.

From I-70: Follow I-70 to Exit 115, Knightstown. Turn left (north) on State Road 109. Follow SR 109 (about 15 miles) into Anderson (Scatterfield Road). Follow Scatterfield Road north, approximately five miles to University Boulevard. Turn left. Turn left again on Nursery Road, and then right on 5th Street. Reardon Auditorium is the last building on the left, across from Park Place Church of God.

Coming from West

From I-70: Follow I-70 to I-74 or I-465 North around Indianapolis. Follow I-465 to I-69 North (Anderson/Ft. Wayne). Take I-69 to Exit 26 and turn left (north) on State Road 9 (Scatterfield Road). Follow SR 9 to University Boulevard. Turn left. Turn left again on Nursery Road, and then right on 5th Street. Reardon Auditorium is the last building on the left, across from Park Place Church of God.

From SR 32: Follow State Road 32 through Edgewood into Anderson. Turn left on Raible Avenue (Wendy's restaurant on corner) to 8th Street (first stop light). Turn right (east) on 8th Street. Follow 8th Street through down town (across the river) to College Drive. Turn left onto College Drive. Turn right on 5th Street. Reardon Auditorium is the first building on the right, across from Park Place Church of God.
